Tile Installation Fundamentals: Entry-Level Helper & Pre-Apprenticeship

The Tile Installation Fundamentals Program is a hands-on skilled trades training initiative designed to prepare participants for immediate entry-level employment opportunities while creating a pathway toward apprenticeship and long-term careers in the construction industry.

 

Led by a tile installation professional with over 25 years of residential, commercial, and multi-family industry experience, the program combines practical jobsite instruction, workforce readiness training, safety education, and professional development within a real-world, jobsite-simulated environment.

Our training model emphasizes small cohorts, hands-on learning, accountability, teamwork, and industry standards to help participants build confidence, employable skills, and sustainable career pathways.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

Upon completion, participants will be prepared to:

  • Assist tile installers on residential and commercial projects

  • Perform entry-level tile helper tasks safely and competently

  • Demonstrate professional jobsite behavior

  • Transition into apprenticeship or on-the-job training opportunities

  • Begin stable career pathways within the construction trades

  • Entry-level workers with little or no prior trade experience

  • Individuals seeking sustainable employment opportunities in the skilled trades

​Through strong community partnerships and industry-led instruction, Solid Ground Trades Training is committed to creating real workforce opportunities, measurable outcomes, and stronger futures through skilled trades education.

Program Format

  • 8-week training program (flexible 6–12 week model)

  • 3–5 days per week

  • Hands-on instruction with limited classroom time

  • Small cohorts (8–12 participants)

  • Jobsite-simulated training environment

  • Industry-led practical instruction

Core Skills Trained

Participants receive hands-on instruction in:

  • Safe use of tile tools and equipment

  • Jobsite safety and OSHA fundamentals

  • Measuring, planning, and layout

  • Surface and subfloor preparation

  • Thinset, mortar, and grout application

  • Manual and wet saw tile cutting

  • Floor and wall tile installation

  • Finishing, inspection, and repair techniques

Workforce & Job Readiness

In addition to technical training, participants develop essential workforce skills including:
